So I don't think this issue is specific to Phoca Download- I installed another file management/download component and that component had the same issue (no offense Phoca people!). This issue started last week when I had two files infected by malware- route.php & component.php. I replaced those files and the site began working (before it was just a blank white homepage but the backend was accessible). That being said, if anyone has any ideas or where I can find the php files that allow the pdf files to render I'd gladly send you a beer. If I put in a direct/absolute link to a pdf file then it pops up in a new window successfully, so the issue has to do with whatever is generating the pdf... I think.

Hi, the problem is, Phoca Download does not render PDF. See the difference:

- Phoca PDF component tries to translate the content to PDF and it dynamically creates PDF on the site (the content is taken from article)
- Phoca Download does not render PDF, it just find the PDF file on the server and assign it to download - then the download happens between server and the user's browser - Phoca Download only set header of the server response, so the PDF is not displayed in browser but downloaded - it does not render the PDF, it just add information about some current existing PDF to the browser and then it is downloaded
