By the way: the Phoca Photography template, is that the same as Phoca Photo Template or is there a difference?
I can only find phoca Photo.

Also the effect as we talk about is only to achieve with that template, correct? not with Protostar (standard Joomla template)?

Of course, the effect for Masonry, is also possible with Standard Template. The difference(s) between Phoca Templates (see Demo) are e.g. for example: background color, borders etc.

Can't understand now, as written here:
The difference(s) between Phoca Templates (see Demo) are e.g. for example: background color, borders etc.
If we could see the URL, maybe it's easier to check (for answer) some CSS etc.

i can give an URL, but it is no use as the gallery is only accessible to members. And i have to respect the GDPR statement where the members signed for. Sorry.
