The best is just use the category access, so each user has own category and to this category only each user has access

But we don't know beforehand which users will use this so we can give access. I just wanted to have one category which would be available but each user could only upload/see/download his files. I suppose this cannot work given what you shared already, right?

Hi, the access is just assigned to category, so it is not possible so users will share one category and such category will display the files depend on user access. Category can have access for groups - so each user in group has the same rights, but if you set user rights for category, no other users can access it.
