Hi all,
I've got the same issue, but as I don't want any registered user, I can't use this as bypass.
I try to investigate as soon as I have some spare time...

It means, maybe your modal box javascript was saved in cache and if you reboot your computer, it will be deleted... but why?

Hello Jan,
it's me again. I have the same problem, the modal box does not work with the phoca gallery anymore, it opens a full window, and you cannot close it. This problem emerged since I installed other components/plug ins. So I have set according to your tipps the parameter to standard pop up window, this works, but doesn't look cool .
The very interesting thing: this is only a problem with the Internet explorer -I use the version 7-, in the latest Firefox version the modal window still works perfectly with the phoca gallery. So may be an IE fix would solve the problem?
I read in other forums that there is a general problem with plugins and components probably overlaying java script ?
Thank you and have a nice day.

Yes, you right, e.g. I did own javascript class for Phoca Gallery Tree Module, because if e.g. VirtueMart Category Tree module was enabled, there were conflict... (But it was because both VM and PG were used modified class of dTree menu) I renamed the modified class and there are no problems with Phoca Gallery Tree Module ...
but Phoca Gallery Component uses standard modal box javascript without modify, so if some other component, module, plugin will modify or add javascript class with the same name but other behaviour, I cannot do anything

Hi Jan,
some time ago i discovered your gallery, and after 4 months since i discovered joomla, i made a nice site for my school, where i work. (
www.obsdeploeg.nl)
With, of course, your beautilful gallery in it.
Now, i want to rebuilt my own old frontpage site. I fount a nice template (also from joomlajunkie) and...i had the same problem as here discribed.
So...it seems to me it is can be a template problem. When you right click a thumbnail (in a correct working gallery) and click on 'openlink' (instead of just clicking the thumbnail) you will also get the the full screen window! And... the close button doens't work.
So....is it possible the template doesn't activate the box in correct way, and is there a sollution to modify the template ..... ?
greetings, Marc

Hi, this can be possible ... the problem is, that Phoca Gallery only uses this modal box, which is created by Joomla! framework... so I cannot say what should the template have for correctly displaying of modal box....
It works this way... While Phoca Gallery category view is loaded (List of images in the boxes), the modal javascript and modal css is loaded too. So if you will open the modal box window, it should work in case, the modal box javascript and modal box css is correctly loaded ... so there can be more problems:
- modal box css or modal box javascript is not loaded with the template
- or the path is not correct
- or the template block the modal box behaviour someway
- or there is a conflict between modal box behaviour and the template javascript behaviour ... I have no idea what can be wrong
