images & thumnails are not shown

Hi there, I have the same issue of mrjohndoe !
I have previously checked :
- the thumbs (all here)
- the permission (755)

I have try to uninstall the gallery and install back
here is the link :

try to set the permission to 777 (because of creating images by GD library)

URL's - urls are created by Joomla! so I don't know where can be the problem but if I look at the code:

/joomla/components/com_phocagallery/assets/images/icon-view.gif
/phocagallery/demo/components/com_phocagallery/assets/images/icon-download.gif

the path is created correctly (first url - your path, second url - my demo site path) ????

I did not set the permissions to all files!

is there any icons for the navigation?

you can see that is no icon

navigation is a french word, i could not find the good english for it

Yes, I see, there are icons but the path is maybe not correctly to link the icons... see the:
components\com_phocagallery\assets\images\

if there are some icons (there should be saved all icons)
