Collation tool problem with utf8_general_ci

Post by fidoboy »

Hello, after using Akeeba Backup my entire database collation was changed to latin1_swedish_ci so i needed to change it back to utf8_general_ci. I've downloaded your collation tool and i've executed it with no problems. But after doing this many texts are truncated when there is special (non ascii) characters, for example "camión" is truncated into "cami" and so on... What's the problem? how can i fix it? can't i use the collation tool and keep my database contents untouched?

thanks in advance, kind regards,

Hi, no idea what can be wrong there, I am using it on utf-8 characters with diacritics - +ěščřžýáíé, without any problem. Maybe try to check if iconv function works correctly on your server.
