Why the page numbers (1, 2, ...) are not appearing on my pages ?

I don't know, do you use the menu links for displaying categories or images (menu links created in Menu Manager). Does your link have the Itemid (which bring the information about pagination, ....)

No,

I use the tree component to access the gallery.
There is 79 images in there (you can see them with PicLens) but it only displays one page and the page numbers are not shown.

... that's interresting .... why is Itemid=0 ? If I put 1 instead, it works perfectly ...

this is because you have no link to category created... Plugins and Modules doesn't have own Itemid, so they take it from the menu link, just create a menu link to categories view and both (plugin and module) take the Itemid from link...

Great to hear it (if you want to not display this menu link, you can create it in menu group which will be unpublished)
