Hi, in fact you need to check the whole permission or ownership behaviour. You should get some error reporting (see e.g. errorlog) to see where you get error while using file or folder. If the server is not correctly set, it is difficult to say where exactly you should change something. E.g. the pdf document wants to read an image somewhere on your server and cannot access it, etc. - it means there can be different locations.
