[Module Request] Web-Comic Galleries

Post by comicdom »

Hello,

I was wondering if this thought had ever entered your mind? I'm in dire need of a web-comic creation/management extension for joomla and seeing how PhocaGallery works, I feel confident this could really be the option/route I go. Would it be possible to create a module for phocagallery that would allow the same functionality, basically with some additional features, such as the following?

1. Comic Management Page (links to create a comic and has a thumbnail gallery of already created comics, each with a view/edit link below or to the side, with the name of the comic above the thumbnail)
2. Create a new comic (frontend) - creates a new directory for the user to upload images/pages to.
3. Number of comics able to create could be defined in the backend (default allowance + user defined amounts)
4. Creating a comic entails naming it (which can be edited) and having the option to write a description, as well as upload a header image (size defined in the backend)
4. After comic has been created, the user can then "edit" the comic, which will allow him/her to add new images with an upload system. This system will also show which files have been uploaded, with their names and will assign a default page number for the comic, based on how many images are in the directory. After saving/updating, the new page will be viewable by users/guests. It'd be cool to have the option to write a description for each page/image as well, which will be displayed at the bottom of the page on the frontend.
5. Also, when in the edit comic area, the user could have an option for how the comic is viewed (ie - most recent page/image displayed first, or oldest image displayed first), can edit the main description of the comic, edit the title, edit the author/artist, and choose how the navigation works (with either images or text links - back/forward/first/last) and where the navigation will appear.
6. The ability to delete the entire comic would be beneficial, as well, assuming someone might want to move their comic elsewhere or just be done with it. This would probably need an "Are you sure you want to delete the entire comic from the site?" exclamation/warning, when chosen.
7. Backend administration of comics (delete/edit/rename/disable/# of comics limit setting)
8. Default template with ability to add more in the admin.

Where in PhocaGallery, you can view all galleries, you could do the same thing with the comic galleries, just displayed a little differently, like with the Title Names of the comics (not directory names).

What do you think? I'd help where I can, but I'm certainly no programmer (though, I could try to learn... then again, I just looked at the files in phocagallery and I'm already lost. lol).

How much time do you think it'd take? =< I've been trying to find a web-comic solution for Joomla everywhere and sadly none exist... which really amazes me.

If you want, I could possibly pay you for it? How much would you charge for this type of development?

It is not about money, it is about time... I have created the Phoca Gallery since 1.5 year ago... I am not a team which can do such solution e.g. in one month... I need for such solution e.g. 1 year, this is the problem :(

I understand. =< Well, I hope you do consider creating this for sometime down the line, but I definitely understand your predicament.
