Search Plugin 4 Joomla 1.6

Is it possible to use the serachplugin in Joomla 1.6?
The Gallery is working fine but I try to use the search plugin and get a errormassage...

"Call to a member function registerEvent() on a non-object in ... plugins/search/phocagallery/phocagallery.php on line 12"
but the gallery is working fine...

I´m not a coder and i hope anybuddy can help me to fix it.

Also I did Phoca Download Search Plugin, Last Documents Module for Phoca Download, and i develop Phoca Download Calendar now.

thx for answer... do you know when the plug in can be ready? is it complikadet change the old plug in to 1.6?

Its PhocaDownload Search Plugin.
Its makes only for me, so if you need samething preferenses, or change plugin write to me.
By default it search 50 results( if in params of search set less count of result, than uses its ).
