Hey,

This should be a simple fix.
I need to know how to delete files I've already uploaded simply because I am not allowed to upload another file with the same name. For example, I uploaded a file name "Hello", but I now I want to delete it so I can upload another file or an updated version of "Hello" without having a name like "Hello V2" or something. I guess what I'm asking is where do these files go after you upload them. I've tried the media manager but they aren't there.
Any help would be much appreciated!

You will find your uploadet Phoca Download files in the folder:
/phocadownload/

For example, I can delete file "Hello" in my sql database and that would remove it from the files tab in phoca download but when I go to create a new file in phoca download and click select filename it still shows the file "Hello" up above in the already uploaded files so when I go and try to upload a new file I can't upload a file with the name "Hello" because a file with the name hello still shows up in the uploaded files above even though I deleted it in the /phocodownload/ folder of my sql database. Hope this makes sense and really appreciate the help!

Yes, because the file "Hello" still exists in the joomla folder:
/phocadownload/
So, you have to delete the file "Hello" with help of a FTP-Client like FileZilla is.

I apologize for all these questions. How do I get an FTP Client working with my joomla site. Is it something I do through the client itself like with Filezilla or do I set it up with my hosting service like cloudaccess?

Hi,
1.)Install FileZilla on your PC
http://filezilla-project.org/download.php
2.)Read the documentation.
3.)Setup FileZilla. You need your FTP login details which you use during joomla! installation.
4.)Now you have access to all your joomla files on your server.
5.)You will find the folder /phocadownload/ which contains all your uploaded Phoca Download files. Delete the file "Hello".

Hi there

This is an unusal one because I would have expected the delete action in the admin panel for PhocaDownload would not only remove the DB entry, it would also delete the file from the folder on the server. I can indeed demove it manually using FTP (as suggested above) but thats a pain for non-technical users. Can this be done within the admin panel so the file is deleted as well as its DB entry?

Hi, since Phoca Download 2, you can set in parameters, that removing filename will delete the file on the server (but be aware, this can be problematic in case, on file is used on different places - search "independent database and filesystem layer" in this forum)
