Hi guys,

I successfully installed Phoca Guestbook (via FTP) on our website. It was working fine, up until yesterday. Now when I click on the menu link to access the guestbook, I get this message:

404 - Component not found
You may not be able to visit this page because of:

  • an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
    a mistyped address
you have no access to this page
The requested resource was not found.
An error has occurred while processing your request.

Please try one of the following pages:

Home Page
If difficulties persist, please contact the System Administrator of this site.

The only change I made was to move the link up a few places on the menu. I've even tried removing the menu item and creating a new one.

I'm using Joomla! 1.5.23 and it's Phoca 1.4.2; I tried installing 1.4.4, but kept getting a "Fatal Error" message or a blank screen, so I followed your instructions and installed the FTP version.

Please help!

Many thanks.

Ess

Hi Jan,

Thanks for that. I followed the steps as documented:
  • - created a sub-folder in the tmp folder - phocaGB144 - on the (Joomla) root directory
    - unzipped the package (com_phocaguestbook_v1.4.4)
    - copied all the unzipped files/folders to phocaGB144
    - went to the install page and entered '/'phocaGB144
    - and hit install.
The error message I got back was "Please enter a package directory". I thought phocaGB144 was the package directory. I'm going to try and replicate the error, by deleting the folder and its contents and starting again. If there's anything you can think of, in the meantime, that may be causing this, please let me know.

Best regards,

Ess

Hi, maybe try to recheck e.g. if there is no missing / or add the path without ending /, etc.
