display category with files and grouped subcategories

Hi,

is it somehow possible to display all related files in categories view (as well grouped for each subcategory)?
In this case I wanna show a list of document downloads on one page, grouped by topics (visualized via categories), e.g.

1. Documents
1.1 subcategory A
1.1.1 document xxx
1.1.2 document xxx
1.2 subcategory B
1.2.1 document xxx
1.2.2 document xxx
...

Having some coding skills I already thought about trying to manipulate the categories.php but this would by a dead ends solution by its own (and (hopefully) unnecessary effort maybe). Any clue? Or is this a feature request?

Maybe I questioned the question wrong. As I'd seen the documentation component does somehow what I want to have - how can I maybe use this component to show download categories instead of content categories and how can I define the entry point for this ?
Has anybody now an idea?

Hi, download categories (if you are using Phoca Download) are displayed by Phoca Download component

Hi Jan,
this I know already... BUT... I don't wanna have a list of Categories only, I wanna have a list of categories WITH their associated items in one view (as example given in first post). This would be really cool if somehow possible...

Hi, see other posts, this can have negative impacts on server performance (to load all the categories and all the files ) so for now such feature needs to be customized ...
