Importing Working? Images show as white boxes W/circle

Post by photokev »

Last night I was creating galleries and uploading images and everything was working perfectly. I was able to make 3 galleries without a hitch, then the add function changed. When I would attempt either a multiple or single add, the script seemed to skip over the make thumbnail function and go right back to the CP screen. I would get a message saying X amount of files created and it seems like it tried to do something, there were thumbnails in the gallery list but they were white boxes with a circle in it. Also, the album was created and you could access it from the front end but again, the thumbnails and enlarged image were both white boxes with circles.

Again, the odd thing about this is that it worked fine for 3 galleries, then stopped. The URL is http://www.eyesofman.org - portfolios

I've tried these fixes:
I checked the permissions of both the Phocagallery directory and the image directories I uploaded with the files and they seemed OK. (644)
I checked the jpegs and they all open fine in photoshop
I did an upgrade to 1.8.8
I tried FTPing a different way

I'm using FF3 on a Mac, Joomla 1.5.3, Phoca Gallery 1.8.8, PHP 5.2. and I'm not sure about the mySQL.

Hi,

did you check if in your global parameters 'enable thumbnail creation' is set to on?

(when you pressed stop during thumbnail creation you have to set this setting back to on again)

Looks like that was part of the problem. I don't remember ever stopping the thumbnail process to shut the thumbnail process but you were right the 3 checkboxes for thumbnail creation were unchecked.

New issue now though, When I try to do a multiple add now and select a folder of images, i get a prompt saying there are no images in the folder. I double checked the permissions for the folder and they're 644, and the images are all photoshop jpgs. I tried re-uploading the images (FTP via Fetch) and get the same result. As a test I tried a multiple add from an image folder I've used earlier and Phocagallery saw the images in it.

If you have enabled the ftp layer in your joomla, then the permissions and ownership of the uploaded files by Phoca Gallery or media manager should be the same as of uploaded files by ftp ???

I know, it doesn't seem to be a permissions problem, I'm stumped. I don't know why the multiple]single add function sees the images in one directory but not others when they're exactly the same file type and uploaded exactly the same way.

Hi,

have you tried to set the permissions to 777 (I know this isn't safe... but just for trying). Then you know for sure it isn't a permissions issue.

Otherwise, I really wouldn't know why it isn't working.

Good luck,

Carolien
