In J1.7, I am trying to display boxes with 1st level subcategories as box titles and 2nd level subcategories displayed, one on each line, in the relevant box. This is how it worked in J1.5, where the 1st level subcategories used to be sections .
What I get :
1) If I select phocadocumentation's (PD) 'List of categories', I get just the 'Most viewed documents''; no categories or subcats.
2) If I select PD's 'List of articles in category', I get just the 1st level subcategories displayed, one on each line with (x/0) where x = number of next-level subcategories.
I tried Joomla default 'List all categories' and it shows all category levels with article count for last subcategory, as expected.
In the PD options, I have just kept the default, except to hide uncategorized and to display 10 'Most viewed docs'.
In global config, SEO settings are default, i.e. SEF enabled, all others including url rewriting disabled.
So how to fix this ?

Re: categories displayed but no subcategories
Hi, Phoca Documentation displays in categories view:
ROOT CATEGORY
- SUBCATEGORY (first level)
- SUBCATEGORYX (first level)
In Category view, there are displayed articles and subcategories:
- SUBCATEGORY (first level under category)
- SUBCATEGORYX (first level under category)
- ARTICLE
- ARTICLEX
...
