Getting uploaded images assigned to the correct category

I am completely new to Phoca. I have Joomla 1.5 installed and have created a number of categories and subcategories in Phoca. When I created the categories and subcategories, I also created a folder with the same name. Then I uploaded images by choosing Images>New>Image. I then chose the folder I wanted the images in and browsed for the photos I wanted to upload using the Java Upload function. My photos all uploaded and thumbs were created. The only way I know to get the photos assigned to the correct category is to click the green arrow next to a photo, assign the category and click save. Then I click New>Image, choose the folder and click the green arrow on the next image. Surely there is a way to get all uploaded photos assigned to the right category at one time (I hope.) Can someone tell me how I can do this? Thanks.
