setting upload rights to a group, not individuals

After I restrict access to a specific group for a category, is it possible to restrict uploads to another group?
For example:
Students and teachers are part of group A
teachers are also part of group B
Group A is given rights to category X
I want teachers to be able to upload but not students.
I could individually select each teacher, which works fine if there are say 2 or 3, but if there were 10 or 15, it would become tiresome to go to every category and individually select that many people. Is there a way I could say give group B upload rights on a category?

You can set up which group is handled as "-All registered users-" in the options (tab "general"). So you can set up the upload-rights to "-All registered users-" and set up "Access" in the categories to "Registered" for example. If the access level "Registered" is to general, create a new one and assign the more specific group to it.

Access is not the issue, upload is.
Again:
Teachers and students belong to group A
teachers also belong to group B
I want teachers and students to have access to the downloads (group A, access no problem)
but I only want to teachers (group B) to be able to upload, not students
currently if I want to do this, I must choose each teacher individually on the upload rights. I created many groups, but under upload I see:
Nobody
registered users
name
name
name
name
no other groups can be chosen.
Can you add groups to upload and delete rights? Names are also a good idea, but sometimes we want to control uploading and deleting on a group level rather than just 1 or 2 people.

As I mentioned before, you can set up which access level is handled as "registered users" in the options of PD Download (see general tab)! If you choose there a "Teacher" access level you can grant upload rights to the teachers! (Teacher should be in group Teacher which is linked to access level "Teacher"!) If you choose "Registered" for "Access" in the category and file options only registered have access to the categories/files! (So teacher and students need to belong to the registered group!) I have tested it and it works for me!

Except students are a sub-group of registered users, just as teachers are.
Giving upload rights to "Registered" would give upload rights to teachers and students.
The only way that would work would be if I removed students from the registered users group, which makes no sense at all.

Please open the PD options, go to "General" and set "Access Level - Registered Users" to a "Teacher" access level! (located under the "Description" text-field and above the "Expert" options!) Then set "Access" to "Registered"! You will see it works!

If I do that every student will be able to see every class. I want students only to see their class downloads.
Each class has its own private download area.

Ok, then do not edit "Access". But you can change the access level which is handled as "Registered Users" in the options to grant upload rights to teachers.

Which puts us back with needing to take students out of "Registered users" group.
Why not allow any group choice in these menus? In future versions please add groups as well as individual names to these selection areas.

The choice "Registered users" is not a group! It is more a hack to achieve something similar but to keep the possibility to select users too. By default it is linked to the access level "Registered". But as I said before you can set up which access level is handled as "Registered users" by PD in the PD options under "General". So you have the possibility to choose which access level can upload.
