Importing 5,500 Images From Gallery2

Hello:
I searched the docs and forums to see if anyone specifically addresses this issue...e.g., what if one already has a gallery loaded with pics (over 5,000 with captions, descriptions) and wants to migrate the to Phoca without getting a migraine headache.
I think the recent 2.0.0 release seems ready for primetime and other users commented, I don't wan't to deal with invasive bridges anymore. While I have seen discussions on features in other galleries that would be nice to have in Phoca, I (and I apologize if did) missed the part on how to migrate an existing gallery to Phoca.
Other galleries usually use import scripts created by the community (no, I'm not a coder). It's probably too early in the dev stage to have that ready, but if someone has successfully done it manually, I'd like to give it a try because (again) G2 (while feature rich) doesn't integrate with Joomla well and I want a robust native script. For anybody who has done it, I guess I need to know which fields get mapped to Phoca's database, which ones are discarded, etc.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
