I read some posts about this but I had the problem that users could enter a name with a hyphen, but when I corrected the spelling in an item, I couldn't save the item as an administrator: error bad character in the name
After a lot of testing I discovered the right file to change: (removed |\-) in Phocaguestbook.php in the directory /httpdocs/administrator/components/com_phocaguestbook/models.
Maybe something to change in a next version because a hyphen really is a right character in a name in a lot of languages! (especially for married women with two lastnames)

Hi, I have no information for now, but can be Hyphen used in Joomla! registering form?

If yes, then I will change this for the next version.
