Stop Thumbnail Generation is all I get

I am so disappointed because I have been using Phoca Gallery for some time entirely satisfactorily and, all of sudden, it has developed a glitch. When I click on Images in the Control Panel, all I get is a white page with Stop Thumbnail Generation.

If I click on this message, I get to my Images page. However, there are no outstanding images that require thumbnail generation. All my images are up to date, authorized and published, and all slideshows are fully operational.

If I start Enable Thumbnail Generation again, I then get this message;

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 52428800 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 3528 bytes) in /home/titsey/public_html/administrator/components/com_phocagallery/libraries/phocagallery/image/imagemagic.php on line 214

I’ve looked through the documentation but I cannot find any reference to this problem, so I would appreciate some help.

My site address is http://www.titsey.org.uk and the gallery is under News & Events > Photo Gallery. If you need access to the admin area, please ask.

Regards,
David

For the benefit off anyone else with this kind of problem, I have solved it and now know the answer.

It was down to a rogue image in one of my folders. The file size was only 80kB but when I opened it, the image size was in excess of 3000 pixels, meaning it was probably bigger than the 3MB file size allowed. I resized the image to 640 x 480 and the file size became 200kB, indicating that it was not correct in the first place.

I uploaded the new image, saved it, enabled thumbnail creation and it worked!

Just goes to show that size is all important and it is not always obvious.
