Problem with initial set-uo

Sorry for the question, but I am desprute to get this extension working. I have installed Phoca Download components and plugin and I can get the system to work but I cannot download a file. I have created a registered user and logged in through the Joomla login form. When I click on the download button, nothing happens, any ideas what I may be doing wrong or can you direct me to a better set of instructions or video tutorial.
