multi upload works on backend, not on front end

I added the mp4 mimetype and got it to successfully upload in the backend just fine. My problem is the front end allows me to select the files, but doesnt give me the option to start upload. I m running 2.5.3 joomla and today's (OCT 17)rev of phoca download. The start upload button just stays grey'd out.

I changed the setting for multi upload from html5 to html4 and the problem went away.
