Some of our users are reporting that the downloads are failing to complete. Files that are having issues completing are .exe with a 300MB to 400MB file size. The users are reporting the files which fail have a file size in the 168MB range on the clients computer (about one-third of the size for the full download).

Is there a setting we missed, or some other problem?

Some Phoca settings I think might be relevant:
Direct link used: yes (this solved most of the issues)
External Download Link: Blank or Self no difference
Mirror Links: none
Absolute Path: not set
Enable Cache: no
SSL: no

Our Host thinks this might be a timeout issue, they provided the following information about various timeouts set on the server:
Mod_fcgid maxbusy time out is set to 10 minutes
Max Idle timeout is set to 5 minutes
global php.ini timeout is set to 3600 seconds.
max_execution_time 660
max_input_time 60
memcache.default_timeout_ms 1000
mssql.connect_timeout 5
mssql.timeout 60
mysql.connect_timeout 60
session.cookie_lifetime 0
session.gc_maxlifetime 9000
default_socket_timeout 60

I'n not sure any of these timeouts are the cause of the failures. We had a number of failures relating to timeouts before we switched to direct link for downloads. Once we started using Direct Link, for the files we only had a few failures, but still a lot more than what we expected.

Could any of these timeouts be the cause of our issues? (I should also mention that the failures also seem to be related to people with internet connections less than 2Mbs)

Hi, yes, maybe this can be the problem, but I really cannot confirm it (after phoca download give information between server and user browser, than there is only communication between server and browser, so hard to say maybe some errorLog can say more )

We were never able to figure out what was happening with the downloads failing. The host admins looked at lots of logs, but never found anything they could suggest as the actual cause of the failing downloads.

The only solution we found was to host the large files (300MB to 600MB) on a separate server from a different host. I hate this solution since external URLs are visible in the browser status bar.
