Categories in menu

Post by Mike77 »

Hi Jan and the rest of the Community....

After spending days trying to configure a little downloadportal with drupal i found phoca_download. It looks like the thing i was looking for and so i tryed to install it and failed... after i realized that i have to use joomla, i spend a few more hours to get rid of drupal, setting up joomla and installing your nice plugin. you may guess it: im completely new to such kind of CMS... So i dont know what to do with all that stuff that i've found in the adminpanel.
Anyway i managed to get it to work (sort of) but now i have some (2) questions after i failed to find an answer on google and this board.

I have made some categorys with its subcats and was wondering
1. how to make a menu for the left or right side for this categories, instead of having it in the content area.

2. is there an alternate way to have some pictures (screenshots) in the description, maybe like a galery with autothumpnail funktion ect - instead of adding them into the descrition dierectly?

Thanx for your nice plugin...
(donation is on the way)

Hi,
1. how to make a menu for the left or right side for this categories, instead of having it in the content area.
You can use Phoca Download Tree Module https://www.phoca.cz/download/category/4 ... ree-module
2. is there an alternate way to have some pictures (screenshots) in the description, maybe like a galery with autothumpnail funktion ect - instead of adding them into the descrition dierectly?
Sorry, I don't know an other way....

Kind regards,
Benno

Thanx Benno...

What is the difference between "Phoca Download Section Menu Module" and "Phoca Download Tree Module" since the description is almost the same, and the demo of both links to phoca.cz/downloads ?

And is there maybe any crosslink between phoca download and phoca gallery, to make it possible to include a gallery to the descrition of a download?

Oh, and my last question for today: what kind of plugin, module or whatever ist that blue menubar on top of this site? Its some kind of menu what im looking for my small Downloadsection...

regards,
Mike

Phoca Download Section Menu Module is a joomla! v1.5 module. It will not work with joomla! v2.5, because joomla! v2.5 doesn't use sections any more.
And is there maybe any crosslink between phoca download and phoca gallery, to make it possible to include a gallery to the descrition of a download?
It's possible to include a Phoca Gallery Category to the description of a Phoca Download Category. (With help of Phoca Gallery Plugin & (if you like) Phoca Gallery Button Plugin)

Ok... thank you. Its not that easy to see what Version of Joomla it is for. Same with the Templates... I tryed few of them, and they all dont work.

Now i installed phoca_download_modul_tree and this is what i get:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /is/htdocs/.../www/cms/modules/mod_phocadownload_tree/mod_phocadownload_tree.php on line 107

Fatal error: Call to undefined method PhocaDownloadHelperRoute::getSectionsRoute() in /is/htdocs/.../www/cms/modules/mod_phocadownload_tree/mod_phocadownload_tree.php on line 149
It shows nothing more that this error :/

Ah, and by the way: If i click on the "detail" button in a download, it shows the whole page with Description, Features, Comments ect in a javascript popup.
How can i make it, to show it on a new Page instead of this overlay?

And phoca_template is not available for 2.5... :( (german language isnt too)

EDIT: thats a bit confusing...
There are some plugins and modules that are not available for 2.5 but they have language packs for 2.5 ?!?
For example the phoca download tree modul or phoca gallery button plugin (which is what i need)

Which version of Phoca Download Tree Module do you use?
With joomla! v2.5 you should use this one: http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsre ... v2.1.4.zip
And phoca_template is not available for 2.5... :( (german language isnt too)
joomla! v2.5 http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsre ... v1.0.1.zip
german language j2.5 http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsre ... ate_17.zip
Joomla! v1.6 & v1.7 marked components, modules, plugins, templates & languages packages will work with joomla! v2.5.

Kind regards,
Benno

I installed exactly this package you postet above. If i install and enable it, it gives me that error.
And at least for the template i know, that they dont work with 2.5... I installed it, and it just gave me the Headerimage. After a litte research in this board, i found a post from Jan. He says that these Templates are for 1.5 and dont work in 2.5.

the phoca_template seems to work indeed. I tryed a new install. But the tree modul, still doesn't work.

Hi,
this are Phoca templates working with joomla! v2.5
https://www.phoca.cz/download/category/5 ... -templates
The Image marked Templates work with the Phoca Template Component https://www.phoca.cz/phocatemplate

Sorry, i was busy at work the last days, so i could continue just a few hours ago...
I managed to get all the plugins and modules to work, thanks Benno for all your links and help.
The only thing i want to change is the following that i mentioned before:
If i click on the "detail" button in a download, it shows the whole page with Description, Features, Comments ect in a javascript popup.
How can i make it, to show it on a new Page instead of this overlay?
I want to have just a "detail" Button beside the short description. (no downloadbutton)
If you click on the detail Button you are linked to the details page, with the layout of the "modal box" and the final download button.
That would perfectly meet my requirements, so i hope there is a way to do this...

It seems that it is'nt such a simple thing, since nobody has an answer... :( i thought that it was possible just by some seetings, but it doesnt seems so.

Maybe you have at least a solution for my new problem...
I want to create my own menu for the categorys.
So i get into the menu manager, set up a new menu, choose menu item type "List of Categorys (Categorys View) and choose the name of a Category in the Menu Tilte. (in this case "example")
The generated Link goes to: index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=categories
but the link should be: /index.php/downloads/category/2-example

If i clik on the link in the menu, i get a blank page. What i expectet was a list of categorys inside this catagory...

The generatet Link
- contains no Name of the selected Category
- is not an SEO Link like all of the Links in Joomla (since i activated it)

How can i set up the Links corrctly? (the reason why i won't use the tree Plugin is the lack of costumisation of it... I want to use a nice drop down menu instead)
