Is there a way to suppress Empty Categories

Post by Robbie8 »

Hi,
I have created Categories defined by Year (e.g. Docs 2013, Docs 2014, Docs 2015 etc) in Phoca Download, which I want my admin users to upload files to as the relevant timeframe comes along. The docs are monthly so there will be 12 files in there each year.

I am using the Categories View in my Front End menu page for regular users.

I only want the Categories that contain files to be shown on the front end menu page, so that I can create them up to (lets say up to 2020) now and the administrator will select which one to start uploading to as the relevant year changes (e.g. at present only 2013 is being populated) - They are using the User Upload Feature of the Product.. effectively in the Joomla Front End.

I dont want the regular users (public) to see the Empty Categories until they have at least one File in them, so that I can use category ordering etc to manage how they are viewed.

This would be a neat feature and I think a logoical one, but I can't seem to find a way to do it in Phoca Download - could you help me by advising whether there is a way using options or tell me how to add a neat bit of code to achieve this (I am not a coder, so will need the code, if you would be so kind).

Thankyou in advance
