Hi Jan,
im working on a website for a company that uses phoca download a their internal document management for their pdf policies. the downloads section password protected and is managed by 2 managers and all other staff have lower level access to the site.
in this company, the documents and polices are been updated on a weekly period and the managers need to make sure that everyone has the most current version of the pdfs. they are worried that if a staff member downloads a copy of a document they use regularly, that they wont check to see if a new version of the pdf has been uploaded.
while setting up phoca download on the new website im making i did find a way to let people preview the file in a popup box but is there a way to make the files open up in a new tab instead?
the other thing that the managers want is to be able to upload the new files via the front end. i've already set this up for them but considering that there are two managers for the website i have a few questions about the front end.
as far as i can tell, a user can only delete/manage the files he or she has uploaded via the front end when using the upload manager via the front of the website even if that same use has logged into the back-end and uploaded a file. is it possible for both managers to be able to delete, publish, and update files that the other manager has uploaded without having to give them a shared login?
is it also possible for a preview file to be uploaded via the front end as well?
because the pdfs are been updated all the time, is there a way for the managers to update an existing download with a new file without having to delete the old entry 1st? i know that it can be done in the back-end of the site but they would rather do everything through the front end of the website.
Cheers.
Uploading preview files in the front end

Re: Uploading preview files in the front end
Hi,
- open in new tab - such options needs to be customized, there is no such option
- in fronent only "own" files can be managed, all others needs to be managed in backend but as there is ACL in Joomla!, managers can have access to backend and only e.g. have access rights for download - so they cannot manage all other parts of Joomla!
- or just add one password for both managers
- previeable file - if you upload file in frontend and it is previewable, it will be set as preview file if this is set in Options - this feature works since Phoca Download 3
- yes, you can overwrite the files if set in Options, it means if you upload a file in frontend, the old one will be overwritten.
