Cannot install Phoca Download

I have tried installing Phoca Download, including through the procedure shown on the page "How to install large components with help of FTP in Joomla!"

This is what I get:
- when I click "Install", I get a blank page.
- when I return to the Joomla admin panel, I find that several directories have been installed (such as /components/com_phocadownload) and several entries added to my MySQL database. Furthermore, a "Phoca Download" item has been added to the Components menu. BUT when I click on that menu item, I get a blank screen....

I am at a loss as to how to solve this problem.

Hi, if you get blank page, means, there is some error (php) while installing, you need to enable php error reporting to see what exactly is wrong on the server:

I now get this error:
"Fatal error: Class 'JHtmlSidebar' not found in /usr/home/cufa00/cufabc.ca/administrator/components/com_phocadownload/controller.php on line 44 "
I am using Joomla 2.5.14.

Just to double check, did you download the correct Phoca Download package? Which would be version 2.1.9 and not 3.0.1...

Aha! That was the problem. Installing version 2.1.9 solved the problem. Thank you for your assistance!
(You may want to more explicitly state on the download page which versions should be downloaded by who.)
