hi
Phoca Commander is nice idea, i see there 2 things/problems:
1st - if you create now folder trough "Phoca Commander" there (in that folder) is not created blank "idex.html" file, "media manager" is creating this file,
2nd - it is not possible to upload file named e.g.: "Ľščť žýáí éúô.pdf" (even pdf file is allowed as file extension), this is also big problem of Joomla (to load files with non-latin characters) uploaded file to server (or to the created folder) will be renamed to "lsct-zyai-euo.pdf"

Hi,

thank you for your ideas:

1) yes, this is complicated issue. If you ask for creating new folder, you don't ask for creating a file. Creating and index.html is obsolete solution how to prevent from displaying the folder items. But this is a problem of server not of the folder. Such security feature should be done in server settings not manually by user. This is the reason why on JED (extensions.joomla.org) they have removed the rule that every folder should have index.html file. (It was really big complication for large components while installing - e.g. to upload over 100 - 1000 index.html to server in vain.

But I can imagine, this is will be set as parameter in Options - to create a folder include index.html - so everybody can decide ... Added to feature request list.

2) See similar posts in this forum where I have explained it. This is more a server problem. Most of the server are differently set and it is not possible to work there with diacritics, so if you do open software and you don't know where it will be used, then you just do such solution which will prevent from problems on most servers (even this can limit some features) So this feature - to accept diacritics in filenames should be customized directly for the server where you exactly know the settings and its limits. But yes, I don't ignore this feature and I hope sometimes this will be solved somehow.

Anyway thank you for testing it and reporting. I hope, at least the 1) I will add to stable.

Thank you,
Jan
