Type MIME for files on another server

Post by pinky06 »

Hello,
I installed Phoca Download successfully.
When I upload files to the default folder on HTML and I want to download, everything goes smoothly, the download is going very well.
If I upload a file from another server using the direct link it appears normaly in the list of available files in the selected category.
But when I want to download it appears the message Error downloading file (Mime Type not found).
How do I parameterize the application to avoid this error and the download is going well ?
Thank for help :?

Hi, you can disable the checking of mime type or set the right mime type for the extension you want to download - in Phoca Download Options.

Hi, I haven't change the default setting for mime type in dowload setting. It's only pdf files.
Whan I download direct from the html repertoriy there's no problem. The problem is only when I want to download from a FTP server where I have upload the file.
I haven't found how to disable the checking of mime type in the setting. Please can you help me with more precision to do that ?

Little informations : I use Joomla 2.5.18 and Phoca Download 2.1.9 so perhaps it's why I haven't this setting ?

Can you let me know the exact form for the name file and for the external link ? perhaps this is the problem ?
The last error message I had this different forms is :
500 - Affichage introuvable [name, type, prefix] : phocadownload, html, phocadownloadView
when I put the real nam with extension and not it in the external link.

Hi, disabling mime checking is possible since version 3.

So the mime type of the file which is downloaded should be added to allowable mime type extensions in Phoca Download Options.

PDF is included in Options yet.

I don't know what you mean with exact form for the file name and for the external link, not should what you exactly mean.

File name is standard file name (see: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... ing-images - it is for Phoca Gallery but the same is for Phoca Download - the file name should have such format to not be in conflict on the server)

External link is copied external link to download.

Thank for your help.
For the format of the file name I want to know if I should write in this section the actual name of the file and if I have to add the extension.
For example, if the file is called "test.pdf", should indicate the name of the file "test" or "test.pdf"?
And for the direct link if I well understand the format will be ?

I have finish to made the system work but with putting "yes" in direct link value. So now I can dowload the file, but the url is in clear and everybody can read the username and the password of the ftp server.... not very good for security.
Is there another solution ? more safety ?

Hi, sorry but I am confused now, what is exactly the problem on your server?

In Phoca Download you can upload and download files.

If you upload and download there is a security protection which checks the extensions and their mime types.

So in Options as default, pdf extension (its download and its upload) is allowed - this means, you can upload a pdf and users can download it.

So if you open the Options and you see PDF extension allowed in download or upload allowed extensions, then you are able to upload PDFs and users can download them.

If download of the PDF does not work on your server, then you need to ask your webhosting provider if on your server there are no limits for downloading files.

PDF is a basic extension and it is default - so if you install Phoca Download, downloading of PDF is standard and it is basic function and if it does not work:

- maybe someone disabled it in Options (removed the PDF extensions from allowable extensions)
- maybe there is some limit on the server.
