I have a questions about Phoca before I install. I'm comparing whether to use it or purchase another similar Joomla component.
My plan is to use it for a document repository.
Does Phoca Download allow:

• From the Front-End
  • Upload more than one document at at time into a category
    • Drag-and-drop multiple docs to upload into a category
    • Bulk-upload documents into a category
    • Upload archive of documents (eg .zip) to unpack into category
  • Automatically generate thumbnails
    • Automatically select stock thumbnail based on document type or extension
  • Edit documents
    • Replace document file with another file (eg a newer version)
    • Check out files for editing and check back in
  • Preview documents before downloading
    • What document types can be previewed (doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, etc?
• What types of documents can be indexed for search?

These features were not apparent to me from the published feature-list or from the demo site.

Hi,

- multiple upload is working in administration
- in frontend, signle upload is possible
- thumbnails are generated in Phoca Gallery - in gallery component, until now there was no need to generate thumbnails in Phoca Download
- documents can be replaced by newer files
- there is no limit for searching documents on the site

Can thumbnails be automatically shown based on the file type? (eg a .zip, .pdf, or .doc file extension will show a corresponding icon for each by default without the user selecting an icon?)
What document types can be previewed (doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, etc)?

Hi, if you mean icons next to files, they can be based on fily types, see here: Mosta downloaded files:

https://www.phoca.cz/joomla3demo/phoca-download-demo (each file type has own icon)

Previewed can be: images (jpg, png, gif), audio/video files (mp3, mp4, ogg, ogv) and pdf file.
