I like this feature. Unfortunately, if a category doesn't contain any images, but sub categories do, the random image is not taken from one of the sub categories, but instead a default folder icon is displayed. Is there some kind of nice workaround, without having to copy some or all of the images from the sub categories to the main category?

I solved the issue by adding a workaround to Phoca Gallery myself. The patch is already on it's way to Jan, so who knows, maybe it will apear in a future version of Phoca Gallery.
