404 component not found

Post by mbaier »

hello

i just installed the gallery menu module and when i click on one of the categories then i am getting the above mentioned error message. i did see that there is a mention of this in the FAQ but i am new to joomla and i don't understand what the FAQ is trying to say by creating a menu.

Can anyone please help me with this ? thank you very much

Hi,

If you're new to Joomla and Phoca Gallery, please the read all documentation related to Phoca Gallery: https://www.phoca.cz/documentation/categ ... -component

For example, there is a document called 'creating menu link'

Hello Carolien

Thank you very much for your answer. I looked at the documentation and tried to create a menu link.
I am having a problem understandig the following:

"Then select Phoca Gallery Category List Layout"

So far i've been able to do the following:

- You are in Menu Item Manager. Click on [New] button. / OK
- Select Phoca Gallery from Select Menu Item Type. / OK
- "Then select Phoca Gallery Category List Layout" / ? I can't find this option anywhere

When i click on a gallery category within the phoca gallery menu module, i am still getting the red "404 - Komponente nicht gefunden!" (component not found) error message.

For your information: The "normal" installation of the component/modules did not work for me. I had to install everything manually as per the instructions within the documentation. Everything seems to be fine with regard to the installation. I have the admin console and i've been able to add categories and i uploaded some sample images and the gallery menu module shows up in my template just fine.

many thanks for your help

So if I understand you correctly you cannot display any images by using the component only?

By the way: what do you see when you are in 'select phoca gallery'?

hello carolien

i am using the phoca gallery tree module as well as the phoca gallery menu module since i've not decided yet which one i'd finally like to use. i have already created some categories and umploaded images into those categories using the administrator backend. both modules display just fine on the site.

The phoca tree module now gives me a nice tree list of the categories i created. but when i click on either category, i am getting a blank screen with the standard 404 component not found error message. The same error occurs when i click on a category within the phoca gallery menu module.

Based on your last email I went into the menu manager and created a new menu item within the "mainmenu". it then gives me a tree list of the types of items i can create. From that list i chose "phoca gallery" which is one of many types i can chose from. Then i am getting a page where i can enter a title and an alias and a bunch of other settings - on the right of this page there are even more collapsable settings. I think they are called component settings. I did not touch those.

But i can not find any fields or menu items that are titled "phoca gallery category list layout" as is mentioned within your documentation. there is a "type" button at the top of the page. When i click that i get a list of types, but none of them are called "phoca gallery list layout".

sorry if i'm being complicated. i'm sure it's just a little thing that i am overlooking.

thank you so much for your kind help

Hi,

which version of the Phoca Gallery component do you use?

Don't you see a menu item type screen like this:
menu_item_type.jpg

Carolien

When i click on "Phoca Gallery" it does not expand into detailed options like it does in your screenshot. now i see why i was confused :)

i "think" i am using the phoca gallery component version 2.2.0 and mod_phocagallery_tree_v2.1.0.zip . i downloaded the files directly from your site and not from another source. i will have to check this since i am not at home right now and don't have access to the actual installation. the site is not yet online but installed locally.

i copied all the files manually (as per your online instructions in the installation FAQ) since the installation did not work with the com_phocagallery_v2.2.0.zip file. i also downloaded the com_phocagallery_ftp_install.zip and used that to finish the installation. maybe i did a mistake while copying the files ?

thank your for your help

I'm in the same boat! I've only the 2.2.0 component installed. Manual installed online, automatic installed offline. Offline all the things are working well, online i cant choose "Menu item type" when i try to create a menu item for the gallery. :x

Mauri

Little update: tried to uninstall the well working component from the offline site, and reinstalled manually. It doenst work.
Maybe there is something wrong in the manual installation procedure?

Mauri

Another step: i think this passage in the manual installation guide is not correct:

3. Copy all folders and files (except front and language folders and their files) from phocagallery_tmp folder into your server's folder:
administrator/components/com_phocagallery

So i copied both directories (components/com_phocagallery and administrator/components/com_phocagallery)from the local install to the online one, and it seems working now.

hi carolien and Mauri

I deinstalled everyting via the joomla admin console last night and got an error message that certain files could not be deleted/removed.

I then deleted all the com_phocagallery folders and re-installed everything manually again. I noticed that in the previous installation i had copied the whole folder "front" instead of just its contents. i gues that's what had caused my problems.

Everything seems to be working fine now. One curious thing i noticed is that the phoca icon that is displayed at the bottom of each gallery category says "2.2.2 beta". But i did not install the beta build, but the regular 2.2.0 build.

calorien - thanks alot for your help
