Hello, I would like to send to some registered users links to files for download, such as
https://www.phoca.cz/joomla3demo/phoca-d ... capdf-demo
The example above is from the demo page. When one clicks onto the link in an email, word document etc the file is downloaded
In my own website, this does not work: when the file and its category are declared 'public', the browser opens in the login page. [see update below]
When the file has status 'registered', and when a user has logged in, the user is re-directed to the logout page.
Is that a feature of phoca download, or is it a problem with configuration of phoca or the server?
If the latter, what would be the 'correct' configuration.?
Thanks in advance for any constructive ideas.
PS using Joomla 3.4.1 and Phocadownload 3.0.6

Hi, as you can see it on the demo page, the standard default behavior is, when you click on downloading public file, it will be downloaded

Re: direct link for downloads not working - opens logout pag
Thank you Jan; meanwhile I found that the direct download link works, if three items are set to public access:
- file
- its category
- the menu item opening the 'root access' for documents (menu type: Phoca Download » List Of Categories (Categories View))
That is probably the case for your demo page too.
But I would rather keep some of my docs away from public view.
if one of the three items is set to access = registered, and if I'm logged in, I get the redirect to logout page when I click on the link.
Any ideas are welcome...

Re: direct link for downloads not working - opens logout pag
Hi, not sure what you exactly mean now.
Direct link is direct link, in fact without any control of Phoca Download - if you are using directl link, this means: Phoca Download displays the list of files on the site (there the access rules are applied) but when they are displayed, then no rules from Phoca Download are applied - the direct link is a link to download server where your website rules (Phoca Download rules) cannot be applied - they cannot be applied for external server.
So to display list of files on your website, you need to manage the access rights
To download the files (direct links) there cannot be used any rights on your site as direct link goes directly to external server.

Re: direct link for downloads not working - opens logout pag
Hi, first of all thanks for your support!
Sorry if I used the wrong terminology for "direct link".
the link I use looks like the example from your demo:
https://www.phoca.cz/joomla3demo/phoca-d ... capdf-demo
So as far as I understand, it is a "request" to phocadownload not directly to the server.
(I "generate" my links by opening a phocadownload page containg files for download, right-clicking over a download link, and selecting "copy link")

Re: direct link for downloads not working - opens logout pag
Hi, yes, then in such case it is not direct link, but link which is checked for rights, so it works normally this way:
- you click it and the file is not accessible, then you will be redirected to login page
- you click it and the file is not accessible but you are logged in - then the file will be downloaded.
If you are redirected to logout page, then seems like something is wrong in the system:
- check to disable and clear cache if enabled
- check to do this without using SEF urls (disable SEF for testing)

Re: direct link for downloads not working - opens logout pag
Hi, thanks for your fast reply,
but no luck: even with SEF and cache (server and client browser) disabled, the result is the same: download works for public docs, but for those with access = registered, the link is redirected to the logout page.

Hi, when the user is logged in, which link does the "download button" has?

Hi, can you paste the link without SEF enabled? This seems like the file is protected by access rights
