Hello dear people,
i would appreciate some help in the subject of actual version:
I was very passive about all maintenance of the webpage, since a girl which was maintaining my web quit with the job and moved abroad. Now i’m busy with uploading photos my self and i wanted to backup the pages, but i found that it doesn’t work. I think it is because i have an old version. It is Version 1.7.3
My question is if i can still back it up and then update it and how? Or what i should do, please? All this is for me very new and i don’t really understand the language of programming, but stil i was trying a lot my self, reading forums and got in to something what is called Akeeba, tried to download it, but still it didn’t move me somewhere.
The message by unsuccessful backup is:
AEAbstractArchiver:: Installer package /hosting/www/———-.com/www/administrator/components/com_akeeba/assets/installers/abi.jpa does not exist!
Thanks for your help in advance.
With best wishes
Pavelko

Hi Pavelko,
Pavelko wrote:It is Version 1.7.3 My question is if i can still back it up and then update it and how?
It is to be feared that it will become not so easy. I will provide you with some information about:

Update:
1) J 1.7 should be updated to J 2.5.28 > https://docs.joomla.org/J2.5:Updating_f ... ng_version
Since version 1.7, the updating and upgrading of Joomla are built into the administration interface as a component. The terms updating and upgrading might be used interchangeably. In many ways, updating and upgrading are alike since Joomla 1.7, but you will need to pay very close attention to the details.
2) Technical Minimum requirements: https://www.joomla.org/about-joomla/tec ... ments.html

3)
This page is for Joomla! versions which have reached EOL(end of life) and are no longer being developed or supported by the Joomla! project
> https://docs.joomla.org/Security_hotfix ... L_versions

Update to Phocagallery: 3.2.8

3a) Akeeba Backup: https://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/ ... a-16-site/

It is not possible, to put Akeeba Backup from a J 2.5 to J 3.x!

I have to split the posts ..... (too many URLs)

Migration:
4) From J 2.5 to J 3.X you have to make a migration! > https://docs.joomla.org/Joomla_2.5_to_3 ... _Migration:

5) Furthermore in short:

Checking of all external extensions (compatible?)
Checking of your template (J 2.5 resp. J 3.X compatible?) and so on.

6) Upgrade packagings: http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... tion=index

7) Security Fix J 3.4 .6 > https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/releases/tag/3.4.6

Migration Phocagallery:

https://www.phoca.cz/documents/50-phoca/ ... o-joomla-3

PG Version für Joomla 3.4.6: > 4.2.2

Above is much work - so, I would think about a new installation ....

Kind regards, Christine

Hi Christine,
thank you very much for your complete answer !
Yet, that will not work for me unfortunately. So indeed i'm thinking of new installation. Another challenge - maybe :)
With best wishes to new year
Pavel
