download fails for large files

Hi,

I have the problem that downloads of larger files fails always after a certain download time period of about 8 minutes.

On "faster" broadband connections all downloads, which terminate before about 8 minutes, are running well.
On "slower" connections all downloads which needs more than these 8 minutes fail.
The problem seems independent of files size an depends only of the passed download time.

By testing download of these "larger" files directly via file link (i.e. http//:xxxxxxxxxxxxxx\phocadownload\xxxxx.xxxx) there is no problem at all!

I wondered if there is any time limit downloading via Phoca?

Hi, no, Phoca Download does not set any limits. When it comes to download then the communication goes between server and the user's browser, so I think, maybe on the server, there is some limit for downloads. If possible, try to ask your webhosting provider

Hello Jan,

thanks for your reply. I did already contact the provider. The answer was the same: no limit!
But what I do not understand: What's the difference between:
- putting the link to the file directly to the browser - download never fails ...
- Phcoa establishes the communication between server/browser for this file - at the end I got the same link which fails as mentioned above)

I'll contact the provider once more...

Hi, you can check the headers which will be set when downloading, see:
administrator\components\com_phocadownload\libraries\phocadownload\download\download.php

There the headers which are set as response from the server, are set, so you can ask your provider, if there is something not in conflict, etc.
