Big images to new page

Hi,
how is managed the images size from articles to pdf ?
Many times it happens that if the images is higher then larger it is added a new page to make the image large as the page, even if the first page is about empty.
This happens because the sistem stretches each image to the width of the page,
is there a way to fix it even by updating the plugin code ?
