Trying to install PhocaGallery 1.6.4 on a non-ofr-profit website (Joomla 1.5.1) and facing a problem with install. Everything else is working fine with the website (Ja_Purity template) .

Any ways I tried to install (Upload Package File, Install from Directory,Install from URL) I get the same error:

Unable to find install package with the

* JFolder::create: Could not create directory

Now, I have a "test" website where everything is running great

So, could it be that PhocaGallery does not work on Microsoft-IIS ?
This is a GREAT component for Joomla! Hope you'll add "sections" in a future release!
Thanks for your reply!

Hi, we cannot speak about Phoca Gallery, because your server did not allow install it on your server... The JFolder::create error come from Installation procedure in Joomla!. Phoca Gallery uses standard Joomla! installation XML to install it on Joomla!. It seems like Joomla! does not have permissions to create a folder on your system (components/com_phocagallery, administrator/components/com_phocagallery... Try to change permissions for your joomla directory.

Phoca Gallery works on Microsoft-IIS (like other php scripts)

Thank you Jan for your fast reply. I will contact the hosting company later (long week-end here... Happy Easter!) and see if they can help. From my limited knowledge, I think permissions on Microsoft-IIS are not handled the same way as with Linux/Apache where you can easily CHMOD the folders/file. I think it might have something to do with ownership as well. If I am not wrong, Component/modules and plugin have first to pass via the tmp folder and then install... so will also check if by changing/modifying the path to the temp folder will help. I will certainly report back when I do have an answer. This might help others.

Thank you again for a GREAT tool for Joomla!

Update: I modified the tmp file path in Joomla Configuration, and the install went OK and so did the install for the Phoca plugin! I had to figure out the exact path on the server... which was not easy to find out.

Maybe this error/solution might help other with similar problem.

Because I did not do the installation of Joomla (the hosting company did) they probably set the path wrong

Thank you again Jan for looking into this. I will now try uploading images and use the Gallery, hopefully with any problem.
