Few questions/queries

Hey everyone, im new here so please be weary of my "none technical" speak. :?

First of all, a few things. I have tried a few different gallery add-ons for Joomla now, some paid, most not, and I will say that Phoca Gallery seems to be the most indepth one you can get. What makes it even better? It's free! You can't ask for much more than that really.

Now upon downloading and installing this, I uploaded it all and installed the newest versions (not the beta 2.5) including the article plugin. When I went to display a picture, it broke my site and gave me (if I remember correctly) SQL/Database errors, something along those lines, it was just text on my screen. After searching google and on here for half an hour, I uninstalled the lot and went to try something else. After finding nothing has the level of depth that this does, I realized, I would have to find out what the problem was as I wanted this on my website.

So this morning, I tried again, but as I went to re-downloaded them, something told me to download the v2.4 article plugin. After re-setting it all up. Viola! It works. What did I do wrong? Well I didn't download the beta component v2.5, but I downloaded the v2.5 article plugin. No where did it say I couldn't, and it didn't even say it was beta. Might be worth adding the little beta image on, just to make things a bit easier?

Another issue I faced was registering on this forum, that captcha image is horrendous! I wouldn't say I have perfect vision, but it took me 5 attempts to get the thing right!

Regardless, of that, thanks for making a great free gallery!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, the main reason I am posting, is that I would like to get my images inside my articles much like I would with the standard image part of the TinyMCE editor.

When writing an article, I usually align the pictures and text side by side, eg, text on the left with an image on the right. Now with this gallery plugin, to display an image/thumbnail, I have to write it out in text, but how does one align it to the side of text? This I can't figure out, that's if it's even possible.

I have searched the forum and read through the documentation, but failed to find anything to answer my question. One of the things I was hoping I would see would be something similar to the Image function in the standard editor, where I pick my image and can upload if need be, set a border, and align it to a designated position. If there was some of that functionality in Phoca, then I would have no complaints.

If someone could tell me, if I can do that, it would be most appreciated!

Hi,

you can use float=left and float=right to align the image. That's it, I'm afraid. About borders and stuff: it shows like the default phoca gallery image...
I assume you already so this documentation: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/14-phoca- ... ery-plugin and the demo: https://www.phoca.cz/demo/phocagallery-plugin

I've made a request to create an editor button, so that people can select images to display in an article: http://phoca.uservoice.com/pages/12720- ... in-article

Hello, thank you for the reply. The feature request you have made is exactly what I refer to, so I hope it will be implimented at some point.

The only thing I have been trying to do now is to move the category title from the right of the thumbnail to underneath the thumbnail, but I can't for the life of me figure it out.

I have searched and found three topics referencing this same query, and have tried both suggestions in the topics but neither work because my original code is different.

Here are the three topics:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3722&p=19693&hilit= ... ail#p19693
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4962
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=793&hilit=name+belo ... l&start=10

Could someone please explain what I need to do?

Hi,

the view of the plugin is defined in the plugin file. So you have to edit plugins/content/phocagallery.php

I'm still using plugin version 2.1.0. In that version the output of the categories view is defined in lines 572 - 617. (it's all commented in the file, thanks Jan)

You need to backup this file, because each time you update the Phocagallery plugin, this file will be overwritten.
