Problem with update.

Cannot update to PD 3.1.2 in Joomla 3.6:
An error has occurred.

-1 Copy file failed
Message is pretty informative.
As per some forums it should be file/folder permission issue, but up to now I had no problems.
(Phoca Gallery was updates successfully to 4.3.0)
On the other hand in J3.6 there are some new features in Extensions/Install
Any ideas?

Hi, try to enable debug mode in Joomla! if it says something more. Unfortunately, Phoca Download (even any Phoca extension) does not install itselves, it is installed by Joomla! extension manager, so the solution needs to be found there.

Try to enable debug mode an install the file, try to see php errorLog on your server, if there is no error message after installing the file.

Copy file failed mostly means that Joomla! extension manager gets info from the server that it just cannot copy the file to the server and mostly this is caused by permissions or ownership  But what exactly can be wrong there, really hard to say, try to see the debug and errorLog

Hi,
Thank you for reply.
I found some css files with access permissions set to 444
like "/media/com_phocadownload/css/main/buttonrc.css"
maybe my fault, but no memories of doing that before.
And not too much info from Joomla installer. I had to write some debugging code to locate this.
Anyway, permissions were set back to 644 and now successfully updated to the latest version of PD.
Thanks!

Hi, thank you very much for the info, this is very useful information for me. This can happen when changing the styles directly in administration. I have overwritten the code for Phoca Gallery in past and this confirms, it was write, so I will do the same in next version of Phoca Download
