Group access rights in categories

Hi,

Phoca download.

I can't give access rights to groups in the categories. I have created groups in Joomla, assigned users to the groups, but in the access rights section of the category i can't see the groups. Just individual users

how to solve this?

thanks,
René

Hi, in category edit, there are two access fields: access for users and access for groups, see image:

Hi Jan

I've been looking through the posts on this subject and see that it crops up time and again.

I have the same issue. I have created additional user groups to subdivide the registered users. There are too many to just be added individually.
Would it not be possible for your component(s) to read the list of user groups which have been created, rather than rely on the old, standard list of groups.
In the image below - hmm, I see you are not allowing file uploads - you can see that registered groups have been divided into agents and media users. That's because they should have access to some common categories and some which should only be accessible by the one or the other group.

Is this a feature you could easily add? It appears to be a common need.

Another alternative, would be to provide a menu item which allows choosing specific categories, rather than all or one. Either method would be a very useful addition

Beste regards
David

Hi,
Is this a feature you could easily add?
no, completely ACL system must be overwritten.

But I don't understand what you exactly mean, that you cannot add custom group to access rights. This is normal and possible.

Hi Jan

Thanks for your answer.

I don't have this item "Specific Phoca Access Group" in the dropdown
I have, Public, Guest, Super Users, Registered. Special - that's it.

I checked, I have version 3.1.2

Hi, this is not common specific group, it is only example of customized access level group which I have created in Joomla! You can create you own.

OK - in that case, the extra groups I created don't show up in the list

Hi, then you need to check the Joomla! ACL feature if there are no problems, if all the groups are assigned to access levels, etc.
