sorry, you probably answered this question 1000 times, but the search function doesn't seem to work... or I couldn't find the right button

Joomla 3.6.4, Gallery 4.3.1, I downloaded and installed the component, which allowed me to create a menu item with Phoca Gallery category list, everything looks and works fine, but I can't figure out how to change the size of the thumbnails- I want them bigger...

Hi,
if you want to switch the size of images in categories view, you can switch from small thumbs to medium thumbs in:
backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Control Panel --> Options --> Categories View --> Image Size

If you want to change the size of the thumbnails in general go to:
backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Contol Panel --> Options --> Thumbnails --> Images And Detail Window Size Settings -->
Here you can set new sizes for large, medium and small thumbnails.
Be aware, you need to delete the old thumbs before and create them with new sizes again.
