Unable to add files (single or multiple) in back end

Suddenly this morning I cannot add files in the back end. Nor will the system search for particular files or for categories. I have tried re-installing Phocadownload but that didn't work. I tried another browser but that didn't work. I tried another website I have that has Phocadownload installed and I was surprised that the add files and searches were not working there either.
Would I be right in thinking it may be a problem that with my hosting provider?

Any advice for me anyone?

Yes, that is possible. Has your hosting provider perhaps changed the PHP version without informing you?
Which Joomla! and which PHP version do you currently use?
Which Phoca Download version do you use?
