idea for Phoca Cart plugins - Web and Store availability

Hi

I now run two web stores owned by one business, so they swap stock between physical stores but they also have items that are available in the following way

there are two physical stores:
Store A and Store B.
They both have their own Phoca Cart website and POS
Store A is 2 years old and Store B has just opened

Store A - creates orders to suppliers for both Store A and Store B.
Most supply orders are delivered and added to stock in Phoca Cart at to Store A
Then Store A creates Phoca Cart transaction for stock that is then transferred to physical Store B. Then add the items on the order to Store B Phoca Cart stock levels via admin

So, on Store A there is often more products available on location

The idea is to create a plugin that takes state of product:
Common - in store and online
Website Only - only order online

And displays this on the Product Item Page layout and possibly the Category Pages.

So customers know that item may not be physically available at the store (so are not disappointed by lack of physical item) but can still order from their website

So store B web orders can be dispatched from Store A

So Store A may carry the stock but customer visits store B thinking all items on website are available. This idea would show that Store B allows the order via website only, or is available in store also. POS Only is not needed to display of course.

Better as an optional plugin for similar run stores than core

Also, perhaps plugin can be filter for online customers.

Any thoughts?

Hi, hmmm, hard to say. Mostly eshops just have one information for the customer. The just don't inform the customer about where the product is now located, they just write time until they can deliver it (without information about where the product is physically located). So as store owner you don't inform customers about "internal" information where the product is available but about when you are able to deliver it.

Yes, Jan, I did not think to use the Availability option. That could solve the problem that led me to this idea.
