File detail page viewable by all, but only downloable by registered users

I know that if I set a file to "public" that anyone can see the file detail page and download it.

But what I want to do is make it so that anyone can see the file detail page, but only registered people can download. It seems that the "Display Inaccessible File" only applies to visibility on the category list view.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

"Display Inaccessible File" means that if some files are only for registered, they are even displayed in category view but when user clicks to download them, and the user is not logged in, he/she will be redirected to login page.

And, yes, this only applies to category view. So when the file is not accessible, no file view is displayed (no download possible, no file view)

Hi Jan,
Just as a thought for future development, you may consider having "Display Inaccessible File" also apply to the file view. For my community, we use the file view kind of like a sales page - We can link directly to the file page, and then hopefully it is valuable enough, the person will register for the site to download it.
