phoca search module

Post by amax2 »

Hello, I think I'm doing something wrong.
I am using the phoca search module, however it only searches in the displayed category.
I have 4 categories and I would like the search to be on all categories and not only on the one displayed.
I also looked in phoca documentation but found nothing.

Thanks Max

Hi, see example:

https://www.phoca.cz/jtd/

Search module can search in specific category only when:

- filtered products check button is set to yes
- and one of the category is filtered

Could this be the case on your site?

When category is enabled for filtering, the URL looks like this:

https://www.phoca.cz/jtd/?c=1-business-and-corporate

First of all I wanted to thank you for your availability and speed in giving answers.
I have a menu with only 4 categories, when I activate "Search Options", the two options appear, but not a list of categories.
I know I'm wrong in this step, but I don't understand how to fix.
I solved it by creating a category and moving the 4 categories in it, creating 4 sub-categories, I added a menu item (hidden) with the category "parent" and thus manages to search in all categories.
But I'd like to solve it in the best way.

Thanks Max

Hi, the most problematic way in Joomla is creating more menu links (plus hidden menu links) to one component.

The best way is always to use only one menu link to component - in case of Phoca Cart it is link to Categories view.

If you need another menu link to another part of Phoca Cart (e.g. to some category) then it is better to create only one menu link - to categories view and in frontend to go through the categories view - to category view, then copy the URL to this category and paste such URL completely (as absolute) to menu link.

Then all menu links to Phoca Cart (or any other component) will have the same Itemid and their URL will be the same for every parts.

If you create two menu links to Phoca Cart, both will get different Itemid and both will build different URL, so it is better to use only one Itemid to build the URL and if needed, copy the absolute URL for another menu links.
