Tree Module - Load time

Hi,

when I activate the "Phoca Download Tree Module (J4)" the corresponding page takes about 10 seconds to load.

Hi, how many categories do you have?

Hi Jan,

with Joomla 3.x the number of categories was irrelevant - the following categories are visible: 9 main categories with 87 subcategories with approx. 400 further sub(sub)categories.

Generally, all category modules need to create tree, it means, if you have items and you use pagination, then you only load e.g. 20 items per page, so only 20 items from database. But categories are not like items, there you need to build the whole tree, so you need to load all categories at once. In this case, it is cca 500 category items - yes, this can slowdown the loading but such amount should be still OK. Try to e.g. unpublish half of them to see, if the loading will be faster - to see if this is caused by number of items loaded and not by some other feature.

Hi Jan,

I tested it with half of the categories > Result: twice as fast. In Joomla 3.x the categories were the same and there were no speed issues.

Hi, hmmm, this is very interesting, because there were no change regarding loading of categories. Only the building of the tree changed to new library, but the loading is still the same. I am testing on one of server but see no problem there.

If you change tempate (for test only), do you get the same results?
