I installed Phoca Gallery and created page to display the uploaded images.
They show as expected in the Slideshow Article.
BUT when I create a Listing page I get the images in one column (rather than in a grid, as I expected).
Anyway, that is not the real problem.
The problem is that each image is accompanied by extremely oversized icons.
I declared everything to "Hide", except the image comments. that removed many oversized icons.
So now my page starts with a very large RSS Icon in the rightmost position,
Then the first image is displayed on the next row.
Then on the next row, the oversized comments icon is displayed (slightly to the right of the image).
That is all that fits on the screen (under the header) before i scroll down.
Then it repeats. On the next row - my second image, and below that an oversized comments Icon. And so on.
On my screen I had expected to see at least some 20-40 image thumbnails, now I can see maximum 4.

Q1. Is it correct that the list should be arranged in one column only, and not in a grid?
Q2. What is wrong when the comments Icon consumes more screen real estate than the image thumbnail?
(I could add that if I unhide everything, the screen is filled with oversized icons, all larger than the image thumbnail).
Joomla is 4.4.8 with Cassiopeia (recently migrated from 3.10. Going to 5.x soon)). Phoca Gallery is 5.0.2. Simple_theme

Hi,

No it's not correct. It should be displayed in a grid.Q1. Is it correct that the list should be arranged in one column only, and not in a grid?
This normaly happens if you have installed and activated the 'Theme Standard' and the 'Theme Simple' at the same time. Deactivate one of the two.Q2. What is wrong when the comments Icon consumes more screen real estate than the image thumbnail?

BUT, I have not (knowingly) installed any Phoca theme at all.
And under the control panels "Theme" I see only: "Current Installed Theme : Theme Simple - Phoca Gallery 5"
Nothing that I can dectivate there...

Hi,
backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Styles
If you didn't install the 'Phoca Gallery Theme Standard' the 'Phoca Gallery Theme Simple' should be published there.
Kind regards,
Benno
you can publish/unpublish Phoca Gallery Themes here:Nothing that I can dectivate there...

The css-files that are listed under "Styles" are:
phocagallery.css
rating.css
theme_simple.css
default.css <- is this the culprit to be deleted?

Hi,
the default.css should be empty and should be set to unpublished.
The three other css files should be set to published.
Kind regards,
Benno

Re: Extremely large icons in listing
Unpublishing the default.css solved that problem. Thank you very much.
A few more questions:
What installed the default file, and what is it intended for?
I found the Photoswipe - Nice.
The Slideshow does not seem to be able to be set to go through all sub-folders. Is that correct? Or is there a way to tell it to show all images in the folder, including those in sub-folders? (I am referring to the separate slideshow, not the one in PhotoSwipe)

Hi,
Kind regards,
Benno
This file is installed by Phoca Gallery for J4 and J5 and is available for backward compatibility reasons and is required, for example, if someone wants to migrate a Joomla! 3 Phoca Gallery to Joomla! 4.What installed the default file, and what is it intended for?
Yes, the Phoca Gallery detail view 'Photoswipe' can display images of one (sub)category. Not images of several categories. The Slideshow does not seem to be able to be set to go through all sub-folders. Is that correct?
Sorry, I don't know which slideshow you are talking about. Is it a third party extension?(I am referring to the separate slideshow, not the one in PhotoSwipe)

Thank you.
I went that route, migrating from J3 to J4. Perhaps you should have unpublished the default.css somewhere in the process.
The slideshow I was referring to is "Phoca Gallery Content Slideshow Plugin is a Joomla! plugin which displays slideshow of images from selected Phoca Gallery category in an article content."

Hi,

I know this plugin. But it's made for Joomla! 3 and will not work with Joomla! 4 or 5The slideshow I was referring to is "Phoca Gallery Content Slideshow Plugin is a Joomla! plugin which displays slideshow of images from selected Phoca Gallery category in an article content."
