I don't understand this:

then i have uploaded some files with the same filename
if you upload the same file in with Phoca Gallery, it tells you that the file exist... if you do it with ftp, the same... so it will be overwritten... so there should not be problem and if the thumbnails for the files exist, then no new thumbnail will be created

it was like you thought - the files were allready on the server - and the correct message ("files allready exist") ... but since than i had the problems with phocagallery.

no, there are users which uploaded 1000 images (it takes a lot of time because of creating but it works without problems)

do you get some error message? or where exactly do you have the problem?

now i tried it once

now i tried it once more.

i saw, that there was an option - not to create thumbnails
-> i enabled this options:
Pagination Thumbnail Creation Yes
Clean Thumbnails Yes
Enable Thumbnails Creation Yes

than i tried to generate an album with just 1 image - about 7,5 megapixel (600 kb)
-> the message, that the thumbnails will be generated appeard, but nothing more happend

than i tried the same with an image with 1 megapixel - and now i saw progress graphic

and yes - it worked

-> are there any options for big images?

are there any option
