I've done everything right, and it's still not working.

There's a lot of things that don't make sense with this component

e.g. when you are creating gallery, it asks for a filename. What is this for? it's not covered in the user manual.

Is it meant to be a folder, or is it used as the cover image for that gallery. I have no idea.

I'd really like to use this component, as it looks good in concept. Last night I got as far as uploading images, which looked like it was working, but then when I viewed my site, there were no pics and no thumbs. No "thumbs" folder had been created.

As far as I know, GD is running fine. FTP layer is running fine. All permissions are correct. I've reinstalled. What am I doing wrong?

filename is the file name of the image, if you add some image (image file), you must select it from the list of file names which are saved in the phoca gallery image folder (first you must upload the images there)

I can see this. But I don't understand what it's for....

filename is an image filename, you must select one - you must select some image which you have stored in your server (which you have upoaded)....
