I have set up catego

Post by macuser »

I have set up categories with subcategories and collections of photos in them. I want to go to my article page and inside that article block show the Category List.

I want to show the list of categories there (the titles are all month and year), and then have each be a link to a subcategory page. Then each subcategory link opens up to the page with a list of dates and events. Each event then links to a page with all its photos.

I cannot see the lists on the page.

I set up a menu for this article page. I added each category and subcategory as a menu item. I went to menu manager and selected the location for the list to appear on the designated page, and the style (css) for the category list. Nothing appears on the page.

I am very confused by the Menu Item type - Phoca Gallery Category List Layout vs Phoca Gallery Category Layout. I tried to follow the Rough instructions and it says to use the Category Layout for the main list . . . but this is a list of pictures.

No matter which layout I use, I see nothing on the page. I am stumped. Trial and error I have tried every combination I can think of. How do I see the pictures on my website article page please?

Do I need to make a regular article layout for each of my main categories and then use the Phoca layouts for the internal layouts they link to?

I also tried putting the code into the article: {phocagallery view=categories}
but all I see on the page online is the code - no photos and no list of categories.

Phoca Gallery Catego

Phoca Gallery Category List Layout - displays the list of all categories

Phoca Gallery Category Layout - display the images of an category (you must select this category in menu link - parameters basic)

There is a component (no article needed) - just do a menu link, e.g. to categories (there must be some categories and some images in these categories)...

or plugin - if you are using the plugin, you just enable it in plugin manager and then you paste the {phocagallery view=categories} into a article

I did all three of t

Post by macuser »

I did all three of these. None of them works.

I have a list of categories and subcategories within them and folders of photos in each subcategory.

I want to show the list of categories on a page. I did a menu item for that page. I chose the Category List Layout. Nothing shows.

Ok then I made separate links to every category in a menu - and none of those showed. The menu did not show.

Then I gave up on that and just entered the code in the page and enabled the plug in. Nothing shows.

I am totally stumped. I did exactly what you said.

?? I want it to work very much.

I went back to check

Post by macuser »

I went back to check the plugin again. I had originally enable the phoca plugin. Now it was no longer there in the plug in list.

However I saw this: "Content - Code Hightlighter (GeSHi)"
and that was something I saw in these forums. So I guessed it had something to do with your software and enabled it.

No difference. Still on my page where I put {phocagallery view=categories} into an article, that is exactly what I see on the live page - {phocagallery view=categories}. No list.

?? I really want this to work. I like this plug in a lot.

Yes I did. I downloaded the plug in and installed it. Then I enabled it. I had trouble the first time, on my laptop. So I did it again on my main computer with wired internet and had no problem. I wrote questions earlier on that. Do I just install it all over again? Will this mean I have to install all the photo galleries all over again? I will try re-installing it again.

thank you for answering

I tried reinstalling

Post by macuser »

I tried reinstalling it. First I chose upgrade. It upgraded. Then I checked in plugins and only the gheshi one was there - no phoca.

So I tried reinstalling it again - this time new install. Again I checked and no plug in was in the list except gheshi.

Also it completely rewrote all my categories and gallery listings so that I lost all those hours of work entering three years worth of listings yesterday.

Still there is no plug in listed.

I know there was the first time. I saw it. I remember enabling it. And then it disappeared.

What do I do now? I don't want to re-enter all those hours of categories and lose it all again with a fresh install. Do I uninstall? Do I reinstall again? Will it make all my photo files also disappear if I do that? They took hours to carefully set up and upload.
